i didn't really do anything today other than watch 2 films.

the first one was 'SLC punk'. i had watched the first half of it a few years ago, but then i never got around to watching the rest. i also forgot the name of it in time.
basically it's about these 2 punk kids who've just finished school. it's almost a documentry of this fictional punk scene, which seems almost dead.
i very much enjoyed it. the ending was nothing how i thought it would be, but i suppose thats one of the reasons why i enjoyed it. i never expected it to be shocking aswell, i guess the realism in it.
oh, and the soundtrack was obviously great considering i liked all the bands. and the opening credits were album covers.

the second film was 'everything is illuminated', which was a true story taken from a novel. a jewish guy who collected things to do with his family was given a photograph of his grandad by her grandma. apparently the person on the photograph with his grandad saved him from being killed by the nazis in world war 2. since the grandma died not long after handing over the photograph, he decides to find this woman. the story is basically about his journey to ukraine alongside a man and his grandad.
i thought it was a very inspiring film. the quotes used throughout it were actually beautiful, and gave me intetions on buying the novel. i liked the fact they added subtle comedy elements in places to balance it as a positive and negative narrative. and yes, i do admit i cried a little.
