today was alright
well the start was boring and sad.
i spent it online. i bought a red mist/kick ass poster. i really need to rearrange my posters/postcards/photos, and i'm excited for that shize. plus i have my new AFI poster, it's made me think about having a selection of gig posters/flyers on my wall sectioned off, then maybe a film wall, although it's more of a tim burton wall, a blink wall, then others. there's some stuff i don't want back up at all, like my the used posters. i don't think i'll ever be a big fan of them anymore, and the fact most of the posters don't even have my favourite member in (branden steineckert)
whatever, this has turned out really long.
the king blues was an amazing, however really quick gig.
i was expecting it to be a drag, 4 bands. but it wasn't too bad.
we missed the begining of the meow meows set. there were 8 people in that band, it made the stage look tiny. they were really happy, and they made me feel out of place.
moral dilemma were next. they were hardcore punk, and i wasn't expecting it at all. the male singer looked like derek from sum 41, and sang like him i was errrrrgh. and the woman sounded like brody dalle a bit, but on distillers more hardcore stuff.
during this band there were 3 people who were cocky and moshed at every song. i thought they were a family, but i suppose they weren't after how close the girl and the older one got. the girl must've been a little older than me and had a white mohawk, and the older man was a skinhead with a blue fred perry jacket on, the younger lad had long hair, a sub-humans patch on the back of his hoodie, and reminded me of an old friend.
later on in the gig we saw them force themselves to the otherside of the venue with pints in their hands.
mouthwash were brilliant. joe had seen them before, and i heard they were good. the best support act of the night. they're supporting big d and the kids table in august, i'd happily see them again.
but the king blues, oh god. they were brilliant.
they played a really long introduction, and it made everyone push. it was so packed, i was surprised considering the dropkick murphys who were playing downstairs practially have the same fan base. itch also mentioned that he was gutted to be playing the same night.
they played loads of new stuff which i was okay about, but i didn't want them to miss out older stuff, considering they came here last in 2007(?) and i never got to go.
but for the encore itch did a spoken version of what if punk never happened. i said every word aswell, it was wonderful. that song always gives me goosebumps, the lyrics are beautiful, i'm so glad it was performed. he also did a spoken one called '5 bottles of shampoo' which was about respecting women. i was suprised by it, but it was nice.
we got to speak to jamie from the band at the end too kind of, he was a nice fellaaaaaa.
i'm getting tired now.
